House Day in Uniform

Dear parents and caregivers,

We are encouraging students to wear an item of clothing in their House colour for House Day activities e.g. hat, t-shirt. Teachers will paint faces of students that do not have an item at home in their house colours.

Students need to arrive at school in full uniform and will leave school at the end of the day in full uniform. Please keep in mind that it will be an active day so students will need to dress accordingly.

Kind regards

Ara Teina teachers.

House Day

Next week our Houses will need to “pull together” and show how “strong” we really can be as a group.

On Monday our houses will take on some physical challenges to show how well we can work together. We would like to see all children dressed in their house colours to show team spirit and be ready to cheer on our teams.

We would love to have some parents their to help with some of the events. We are expecting our challenges to take most of the day however any help throughout the day will be more than welcome. Please let either Mrs Sorby or Mrs Baird know if you are available.

Here are some examples of team challenges you might see happening on Monday:

Samoan Day

Last week was Samoan language week, Room 22 is lucky enough to have lots of children with Samoan heritage and enthusiasm was high for all our students.

Thank you to our generous parent for sharing her knowledge with the children and bringing in some Samoan clothes for the children to try.

We've been writing the story of Sina and the Eel, a traditional Samoan tale, that explains how we came to have coconuts.
Mrs Sorby thought it was a good idea for us all to try coconut, so we had to decide how to break it.
One clever student thought up the idea of breaking it on a rock, so we all had fun breaking it and then tasting it afterwards.
We were not all that enthusiastic about drinking the milk, but were all brave enough to eat the
coconut.
